Following his win in the Electrolux Design Lab 2009 contest, Rickard Hederstierna has accepted an offer to extend his contract within the Electrolux international design centre based in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Swede, whose concept ‘Cocoon’, took the first prize of a six month work placement and €5,000, joined Electrolux in April 2010. Rickard has since been an integral part of a project team responsible for designing dish care products and appliances.
The Design Hub Barcelona recently opened their exhibition ‘Full Print3d – Printing Objects’ (16.06.2010 – to 29.05.2011). This three-dimensional printing exhibition includes Electrolux Design Lab 2009 finalist concept, ‘Moléculaire’ – the molecular food printer.

Following on the heels of the recent Korean design book post, and for those Facebook fans that perhaps missed it, here is further reason to submit a design to the Electrolux Design Lab contest. A number of previous Design Lab concepts are featured in this Trend Hunter video (released at the back end of 2009), now seen by almost 50,000 viewers (watch out for trend number six!).
Competing in the Electrolux Design Lab competition provides not only the opportunity to win a work placement at an Electrolux global design centre for six months, but for all of the students that make it through to the final round, their ideas live on. This Korean publication includes all eight concepts from the 2009 Electrolux Design Lab finalists.
